

Senior Men and Women (over20s and above) make up a large number of members of TAC, ranging from beginners and casual members wanting to keep fit, to competitive athletes of county standard and above. The largest contingent participate in Road or Multi-terrain running or Cross-Country, with others focussing on sprinting and other Track & Field events.
The main regular training session open to all Seniors is every Tuesday evening from 6.10 pm to 7.45pm , meeting at the Castle Athletics Track (off Heron Drive, Taunton). For that session we usually use the track for drills and interval training, arranged in groups according to ability.
Also - winter road training runs - meet Thursday evenings 6.10 pm (at Castle) for local run around town. Other longer distance sessions are usually arranged among members, often meeeting on the Quantocks at weekends, when not taking parts in one of the numerous running events on the local fixture calendar :

TAC runners included Ben Pointing in his first road race for the club, showing the hard work he has been putting in is paying off taking 5th place in 35.06, well done!Joe Walton, one of the clubs many outstanding junior (U17) members was only a few mintes behind Ben in 39.43 and 3rd Junior overall. Weston Christmas Cracker : A fast and flat 10k - which is always sold out well in advance, with tinsel and Christmas decos a must. Keith Paul represented TAC coming home in 40.19 (results link).
Wellington Monument 10K - on a beautiful sunny day pre Xmas, what could be better than a steep climb up from Hemyock village, around the Monument and back to the school. Rich Caburn came in excellent 4th place in a swift 38.35 among 114 runners (results link).

25. Sep. 2011 - Taunton 10K: Taunton AC runners take top honours on home ground. A field of over 600 competitors from throughout the Southwest and further afield turned out to compete in drizzly rain this Sunday.
In the Mens race Luke Scott of Taunton AC took1st place overall in a time of 32
:16, more than 1 minute clear of the rest of the field. Other Taunton AC members taking top 10 placings among the 330 male finishers included Ollie Ager 36:29 (8), Steve Willis 36:31 (9) [&3rd M40] and Tom Mellor 36:35 (10), followed closely by Richard Caburn in 36:43 (13) [&4th M40]; Michael Dunn 41:50 (46) ; NickChapman 42:18 (51); Alex Rogers 43:22 (71); Jochen Langbein 56:38 (257) [18th M50]
Of 260 finishers in the Ladies event TAC's Naomi Taschimowitz - running in her first competitive 10K road race - took the title in a excellent time of 35:14 (less than a minute outside the course record); next TAC ladies over the line were Rachel Langbein (9th) 43:22; Hannah Taunton (17) 45:09; Liz Taschimowitz 53:00 (60) [9th L45] and Suzi Griffith 1.02:18 (152) [29th L40]. Aug 28th Battle of Sedgemoor 10K . Results available click here. First Taunton competitor home was Luke Scott in 5th SM with an impressive time of 32:40; followed by Nick Chapman 42:30 (97th), and Annabelle Lillycrop (V35) in 54:17 knocking further important seconds of her seaons best. David Cooke of Taunton Athletic Club, as wheelchair entrant,completed the race in 38:03 which would have equated to position 46 ! Well done all ..... and could luck to all competing at the Taunton 10K (25th Sept) and Bristol HMarathon this Sunday ( 11 Sep.).
Torbay Half: 1565 runners set off on this annual 2 lap race with Steve Willis and Paul Cuff coming in with impressive times of 81.47 (21st place) and 84.16 (32nd place).
Forde Abbey 10k: In this beautiful, but tough off road race in Chard TAC junior Max Patch - at the tender age of just 15 - came in 6th place iamong a string field of senior runners n a superb time of 41.55.
Quantock Beast 5.7 miles: In firm conditions under foot compared to previous years and strong sun times were slower tahn in the past but - Keith Paul consistent as ever came in 10th in a time of 41.17 whilst Sharron Kington, Annabelle Lillycrop and Suzi Griffiths came home in 55.33, 59.22 and 1.12.32 respectively.
Wellington Ten: TAC were represented in the 10k event by Keith Paul winnng the male vet division in 40.42 (4th overall) and Nick Chapman in 19th place in 45.38. Suzi Griffiths excelled by knocking 7 mins off last years time in 1.08.55.
Beacon to beach, Minehead : Over 7 country miles coverred by 250 runners: Ollie Berry won overall with a time of 35.07, followed home by Mark Hopkinson (2) in 36:42. An incredible 3rd place overall - and 1st in the U17M category went to TAC junior Joe Walton in 37:21. The under 17 Womens category was won by Rachel Langbein in 45:22 coming in also second female overall . Other TAC members competing in U17M - Harry Hall (2nd in 37:49; Harry Chin 44:10 (20) Archie Walton (22) 44:25 ; and U17W Yasmin Bailey (2) 53:27; M45+ Sean Walton 52:12 and Jochen Langbein 60:17. Wimbleball 70.3 - June 19 2011 : Congratulations to Mark Jones and Jochen Langbein who both completed their first 70.3 mile half-ironman Tri at Wimbleball Lake ... and have vowed to tackle it once more next year to improve on times.
Martock 10K : Congratulations also to Annabelle Lillycrop on her very first competitive race for the club at the Martock 10k, in a great time of 54.27. Keith , Sharron and Suzi also competed finishing in 39.01, 49.43 and 1.06.09 respectively.
May 22nd 2011:CONQUERING THE HILLS AT CREWKERNE
Luke Scott is in the form of his life with a fantastic win at Crewkerne 9 mile race, reknowned for its tough , hilly course. Following on from his previous win here in 2010, Luke took nearly two minutes off his time to come in 48.52. Well done Luke all that hard work really is coming to fruition. results

Every Saturday : KILLERTON PARK RUN
A seriously good Saturday morning out. 5k off road around Killerton and Free!! (just register on the Park Run site and that will enable you to run at any Park Run in the country). Don’t expect a flat pb course though.
Taunton Marathon and HALF
Well done to all Taunton AC seniors who ran the Taunton Half Marathon on Sunday. In form Luke Scott finished 2nd with a new PB of nearly 2 minutes to complete the 13.1 mile course in 71:04. Top of the Mens XC league! Following on from last years magnificent promotion in the Gwent Cross Country League, the senior men have positioned themselves nicely at the top of their new division after this years first race at Bridgend with Luke Scott in 9th place over the 10k distance in 33.07, Rich Caburn 36.09, Tom Bloodworth 37.10, Keith Paul 39.54 and Phil Paddick in 44.24 . Taunton 10 K September 2010: TAUNTON AC had yet another outstanding turnout for our local Taunton 10k. M
any PB s went tumbling, with many months of hard work coming to fruition. 1st home was Luke Scott 32.15, A stunning PB, taking off over a minute from last years time.
A sprint to the line between team mates Tom Bloodworth 35.15 (PB) in 11th and Richard Caburn 35.16 in 12th made for great watching. ...read more here..

Lanhydrock 10m off road. Tom Mellor in between sunbathing on the beach ran this hard, hot and hilly course, coming second, bringing home more silverware.
Wellington 10. On a scorching day several members tackled the 10k or the 10 mile hilly routes: 10 miles - Phil Paddick 1.11.37 ; Liz Hurst 1.42.53 ; 10k - Nick Chapman ran 43.59; Emily Currie 51.30.
Tin Tin 10K - Well done Tom Mellor for notching up a win for Taunton AC in the Tin Tin 10K in 39.22; Ninesprings 9m – congrats to Luke Scott coming second only to Adrian Marriott ; and in the
Martock 10k Luke followed this up with a win.
