Sun 9th May : The Black Death. The return of this very scenic and challenging 10 mile off road run. Mark Hopkinson came in first place making the tough hills look easy in 1.07.24, Rich Caburn 1.16.19, Nick Chapman 1.29.25, Keith Paul who took the scenic route of an extra 3 miles in 1.48.31, Barry Ansell 1.51.04, Sharron Kington 1.51.30, Rachel Smart 2.11.12. Junior member Amy Caburn was second lady in the 3 mile race, showing that all the cross country she has done over the winter paid dividends in 25.12. Full results click here
Sun 9th May 2010: Curry Mallet 10k : This year this race was held as a road race, sadly clashing with the Black Death, but attended by Phil Paddick in 39.45, Liz Hurst 56.48.
Yeovilton 5k series (May 2010) : Tom Bloodworth 16.52, Keith Paul first vet 17.38, Phil Paddick 18.20, Charlotte Fisher, taking off over half a minute from previous month in 21.54, Sharron Kington 23.45, Liz Taschimowitz 23.54, Felicity Lynch in her first race for the club, was successful in going sub 30 mins with a highly creditable 29.07. What's stopping YOU from joining us for the next one in the series in June.
Sun 18 April: Horner Water 11 The first running of this off road race in stunning scenery was won by Mark Hopkinson in 1.09 and Tom Mellor in 2nd in 1.11. Full results click here.
The Taunton Full Marathon was won by James Sumpter of Thames Valley Harriers in 2.38, with Martin Pearse the first local competor home in 2.48 (5th overall & 2nd M45).
Wed. 14 April : Yeovilton 5k The first in the summer series was well represented at this fast, flat course. Luke Scott 16.02, Tom Bloodworth 16.46, Keith Paul 17.41, Phil Paddick 18.44. Cambridge Blue student Naomi Taschimowitz, who has recently broken into the Junior England ranks ran a stunning 16.45, with Charlotte Fisher running a super 22.35.
3 March 2010 : 2009/10 Minehead 3 mile road race series. Congratulations to Ollie Berry in winning the final race overall & SM trophy for the series. Other series category winnners by members of the club included Alex Rogers (U17M), Rachel Langbein (U17W), Josh Aspey (U14B) , Yasmin Bailey (U14G) [some of competing for home town rather than TAC at this event. Wed. 3rd Feb - 2009/10 Minehead 3 mile road race series . Competition in the Sen. Mens race is hotting up between TAC members Ollie Berry and Mark Hopkinson for the overal SM title. Ollie won this February race, making it two wins a piece with just the March race to go. In the U17W Rachel Langbein running for TAC gained her 4th straight win to take the series. Full results here.
Weston Hangover 4 Jan 2010 : Mark Hopkinson claimed the first 10K win of the year for Taunton AC in a time of 33:44 ahead of a field of 218 runners at Weston. Other TAC runners braving the Hangover were Chris Piers Keith Paul and Sharron Kington. Full results click here.
Stoke Stampede Boxing Day 2009 - : A good day out with over 370 runners. James Walker was the first TAC runner home with a season’s best and a fantastic 11th overall in 38.37 (4th SM). Rachel Heard came home with a PB of 39.12 to win the ladies race (16th runner overall); closely followed by Alex Rogers (running on the day for his home club Minehead RC, winning fastest junior male in 39:14 (17th ovr). Another of our juniors members, Jamie Coles also ran a storming race to take 3rd MJ place in 42.31 (3rd MJ). Iain Blackwood finished in 42.15 (14th SM), and Sharron Kington in 50.16 (17th FVet; 161 ovr). Tom Mellor charged around with little Grace in the buggy. Not one to be competitive Tom, but starting at the back, weaving through the runners and a puncture did not stop him from finishing in 42.36 and comprehensively beating the other 'buggy' runner who had started 2 mins earlier with Dave Cooke in his wheelchair!. 15 November 2009 - ‘The Drogo 10’ . A fantastic performance from Mark Hopkinson (TAC) coming home first ahead of over 500 finishers in this tough 9.6 mile trail race in a time of 1:02.13; while brother Matty Hopkinson also had a great run finishing 22nd/517 (1:13.44). The annual Reindeer Run in Scotland was an off road, very muddy 10k in which Iain Blackwood flew the flag for us, with a fantastic 9th place out 230 runners in 41.35. With his times improving in leaps and bounds Iain will be PB hunting back in
The 2009/10 Minehead 3 mile road race series is hotting up . In the SM category Mark Hopkinson achieved a PB in December in a winning time of 15.50, beating team mate Ollie Berry. Along with Ollie and Stuart Creech of Minhead RC, it is one race apiece. Junior TAC members included: in U17W event Rachel Langbein winning her 3rd of the 3 races to date, with Simon Cooper winning the Dec. U17M race and Yasmin Bailey the U14G. The January race has been postponed to 13th Jan due to snow. Full results see Minehead Seafront
Hestercombe 6th Dec. 2009 : TAC along with Wells City Harriers hosted the joint Gwent Cross Country league and Somerset Cross Country Championships at the lovely but muddy venue of, with an outstanding run by Mark Hopkinson to claim 8th place out of 254 runners, 36.14. , Ollie Berry 38th 39.38, Rich Caburn 54th 40.40, Tom Mellor 61st 41.06, Tom Bloodworth 71st 41.48, Ollie Agur 105th 43.22and James Walker 112th 43.49 also ran strong races on this rugged course. Mark H has now climbed to the dizzy heights of 3rd overall in the Gwent League after 3 races.... well done !!! For Fuller report see here : at XC pages.

27 Sept'09 Taunton 10K. Amongst a field of over 600 finishers category winners from Taunton AC included Luke Scott (1st overall and SM); Martin Pearse (1st M45 , 7th overall) ; and Rachel Heard (1st SL). Full results here.
12 July - Congrats to Mark Hopkinson who came 1st in the annual 7mile multiterrain Beacon to Beach race at Minehead ahead of a field of over 275 runners. Full results link click here.
April 2009 - Well done all competitors in the April 2009 Taunton Marathon and Half Marathon . Many excellent performances from TAC runners in the Half Marathon - among a field of over 1200 runners - included : Luke Scott 10th overall (7th SM) in 1:15:47 ; Martin Pearse 14th (4th M45) and Tom Mellor 16th (10th SM). See table below for others running for the Club.
In the full marathon Simon Lund finished in 3hr 18m in 42nd place (17th M40) among a field of 200 finishers. {I spotted no other TAC vests in the full marathon ....email me if I missed anyone)

28 Sept'08: Taunton AC Runners excel at local 10K race: Four Taunton AC athletes finished in the top ten among a field of over 550 runners, who completed the Taunton 10K race this Sunday in glorious autumn sunshine.
Congratulations to Luke Scott – the overall Winner (SM) in 33:53, and to several other TAC club members who each also won their individual age categories : Martin Pearse 1st M45 (3rd overall) ; Richard Caburn 1st M40 (9); and not least Rachel Heard who in her first year as a senior won the S Ladies title in 40:09 (35).
Oliver Ager secured 2nd place among the Junior Men in 41:53 (62); Charlotte Fisher 4th L35 (155); and Sharron Kington 6th L45 (151). For full results listing see Taunton 10km Other Results see links below:
