15 Apr 2012 - A field of over 300 competed at the inaugral Bridgwater 10K including 3 TAC members all placed high up the finsihing order. Keith Paul was our first runner home in 38.04 placed 7th overall (3rd M40-49), followed by Nick Chapman 45.45 (77th' 22nd M30-39); First TAC lady home was Sharron Kington in 49.21 (123 overall) and taking 2nd place in the L50-59 division.
On the same day Annie Lillicrop took on the tough Horner Water 11M off-road challenge for the first time and by all accounts survived and even enjoyed it finishing in 1:47; overall winner among 31 finishers completing this challenging run was Tom Mellor in 1hr 09.28 , a clear 2 minutes ahead of the next runner.

1st April Taunton Half Marathon & Marathon, Results now available: Many congrats to all who completed the course and others who helped at this event. Among 1121 finishers in the Half marathon, highest placed male and female TAC runners were Luke Scott 4th overall (3rd SM) in 1:15:44; and Hannah Taunton 5th Senior Lady (149 overall) in 1:34:08. Other TAC runners putting in excellent performances included among the men Richard Caburn 1:23:10 39th (10th M45); Keith Paul 56th (13th M45) 1:26:38 and Leighton Omerod 71st (37th SM) 1:28:26 ; among the ladies Sarah Laver placed 20th in the SL (1:44:17), Sharron Kingston put in an excellent 1:50:26 for 5th position in the FV50 category and Annie Lillicrop was not far behind in 1:57:45 (33rd FV40).

30 Mar-1April - British Colleges National Champs - Several TAC endurance squad members travelled to Bath University to represent their respective colleges and Southwest Region in the XC section of this multisport championships against 10 other Regions of Britain. Rachel Langbein took individual bronze in the Cross-country, and together with fellow TAC members Ellen Cheetham and Emma Wilson helped the SW to Gold in womens XC team event; the SW mens XC team also won team Gold assisted by strong performances from Jamie Coles and Rowan Preece. After an exciting weekend of many different sports the South West also successfully claimed the Wilkinson Sword trophy for highest scoring region for the first time since 2006.

31 Mar 2012- Yeovil Open : - Several Taunton AC althletes made an early start to the outdoor Track & Field season at this Open meeting, with PBs recorded by Ben Thompson (110mH SM 17.28, 2nd); Dan Wilde 1st in 800m U15M in 2:21.98; and Archie Walton U15M 80mHu 15.45 3rd; and SB times in 100m U17 for Abilgail Barton (13.18) and Leah Oates (14.41). 17 Mar 2012: Many many thanks to all TAC members and others who helped Somerset Schools Athletics to TauntonHM09host the ESAA National Schools Cross Country at Ilton near Taunton, attended by over 2000 competitors and 5000 supporters. The championships was the culmination after district , county and regional selection races earlier in the season throughout England, with around 350 athletes competing in each of the U15 , U17 and Senior classes for Boys and Girls of school age. Among numerous outstanding performances from TAC members representing their respective schools, highest national placing was attained by Blair Brown (6th) in the Senior Boys. 25 /26 Feb: TAUNTON AC's travelled to the Saucony English Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill with a select but determined group of runners, achieving many excellent placings in this top level event. Not surprisingly our British international and European Championships medallist Naomi Taschimowitz flew the flag highest with an excellent seventh place in the senior women's race. Also in the women's races Catherine Blew finished an excellent 10th in the under 20s age group with Taunton AC clubmate Rachel Langbein 51st.
In a highly competive field of over near 350 finishers in the under 17 men's competition Rowan Preece made the top twenty in a fine 14th while younger clubmate Joe Walton was an exclelent 20th, and with Isaac Taschimowitz 170, and Ben Hawkins 262, helped TAC to 11th place (of 28) in the team event.  (full result & videos here
On the Sunday TAC's Evie Grogan competed at the Junior National Indoor Championships in Birmingham, gaining an excellent 5th place in the U20 High jump (full results here) , following up on her 1.72 PB and 1st Place gained at the Welsh Athletics U20 Championships three weeks earlier.

26 Dec : Stoke Stampede 10K: Always a good way to burn off those extra Christmas pounds and this year with great weather conditions - shorts on a Boxing Day ! (Full results here)
TAC runners included Ben Pointing in his first road race for the club, showing the hard work he has been putting in is paying off taking 5th place in 35.06, well done!
Joe Walton, one of the clubs many outstanding junior (U17) members was only a few mintes behind Ben in 39.43 and 3rd Junior overall. Keith Paul and Sharron Kington came home in 45.23 and 50.26 respectively. Dave Cooke TAC’s wheelchair member, as consistent as ever , finished in 38.57 . (Full results here)

Weston Christmas Cracker : A fast and flat 10k - which is always sold out well in advance, with tinsel and Christmas decos a must. Keith Paul represented TAC coming home in 40.19 (results link). Wellington Monument 10K - on a beautiful sunny day pre Xmas, what could be better than a steep climb up from Hemyock village, around the Monument and back to the school. Rich Caburn came in excellent 4th place in a swift 38.35 among 114 runners (results link).

11th Dec 2011 Somerset XC Champs: A strong entry across most age groups helped Taunton AC athletes to secure TauntonHM09no less than 10 Somerset Championships medals with new Somerset Champions from TAC including Hannah Taunton (SW); Rachel Langbein (U20W) and Max Patch (U17M). Silver placings were achieved by Blair Brown in the U20Men's, Holly Brown (U15G) and Amelia Vance (U13G) and bronze for Ben Pointing (SM), Joe Walton (U17M), Harriet Rogers (U17W), Grace Smalley (U15G) and Jess Brown (U13G). One of the most hotly contested events was the U17M, with six Taunton AC runners (pictured) among the 27 finishers. 11th Dec. ETauntonHM09uro XC Velenje ....Huge Congratulations from all at TAC to Naomi on her stunning run to take Silver for GB in European XC Championships in Velenje.

Naomi Taschimowitz, now studying at Cambridge, and a longstanding (running!) member of Charlotte Fishers's endurance squad at Taunton AC, was selected for the GB team after strong performances at Liverpool XC trials two weeks ago. In coming second to her GB team-mate Emma Pallant, and with Steph Twell a close fourth, she also helped the GB team to the U23Womens Team Gold. ....read more here

11 th Dec. Euro XC Velenje : Many Congrats to Naomi who following another good run at the Liverpool McCain XC two weeks ago has been selected to run for GB in the U23Women's XC Championships at Velenje . The Euro XC will be on BBC TV on the 'red button' Sportmultiscreen from 12.30 Sunday 11th Dec.

13 Nov. McCain Cross Challenge 1 - Bristol. Members of the Taunton Athletics Club competed with distinction at the first race in the UK Athletics McCain Cross Challenge series held at Ashton Court estate last weekend. Leading age group athletes from across the country came together in Bristol to compete over a tough course whilst in the U20 and Senior age groups it was also a test of form prior to the European cross-country trials at the end of the month. Taunton AC’s top performer of the day was Naomi Taschimowitz who finished second behind the in form Gemma Steel who earlier this year took victories over both Paula Radcliffe and Jo Pavey. Other medallist for Tauton included Dan Wilde (U13B) and strong performances in other age groups from Joe , Isaac, Rachel, Luke and Grace .....Read full report here....

9 Oct. Gwent League 1 Bridgend : Holly & Blair Brown helped to get the TAC XC season off to a flying start , both winning their respective U15G and (U20M) divisions. Full Results are now available on the GWLeague site: click here.

25. Sep. 2011 - Taunton 10K: Taunton AC runners take top honours on home ground. A field of over 600 competitors from throughout the Southwest and further afield turned out to compete in drizzly rain this Sunday.
In the Mens race Luke Scott of Taunton AC took1st place overall in a time of 32TauntonHM09:16, more than 1 minute clear of the rest of the field. Other Taunton AC members taking top 10 placings among the 330 male finishers included Ollie Ager 36:29 (8), Steve Willis 36:31 (9) [&3rd M40] and Tom Mellor 36:35 (10), followed closely by Richard Caburn in 36:43 (13) [&4th M40]; Michael Dunn 41:50 (46) ; NickChapman 42:18 (51); Alex Rogers 43:22 (71); Jochen Langbein 56:38 (257) [18th M50]
TauntonHM09Of 260 finishers in the Ladies event TAC's Naomi Taschimowitz - running in her first competitive 10K road race - took the title in an excellent time of 35:14 (less than a minute outside the course record); next TAC ladies over the line were Rachel Langbein (9th) 43:22; Hannah Taunton (17) 45:09; Liz Taschimowitz 53:00 (60) [9th L45] and Suzi Griffith 1.02:18 (152) [29th L40]. 17/18 Sept. ESSA National Combined Events Champs - Exeter. Several of TAC's young  athletes were selected to represent Somerset at the National Champs, where Harry Hall gained a superb 4th Place in the InterBoys Octathlon at this top class competition, and George Giles placed 13th; In the Senior Girls Megon Toon also gained 13th place. 4 Sep. 2011 - SWAL Match 4 : Well done all who competed and supported TAC at Yeovil on 4th September - It was a great day with Taunton AC not only notching up our first win out of the 4 matches this season against the 6 other SW clubs in SWAL League Div 1, but moving us back up also to a very respectable 3rd overall in the League for the 2011 season. Outstanding individual performances on the day included 3 new SWAL records by TAC athletes - Cath Blew (U20W 3000m 9:28) , Blair Brown (U20M 5000m 15:48), Katie Cross (U15G Discus 34.36m) . Thanks to all team managers and other volunteers as well as coaches and athletes who assisted with SWAL this year. Provisional indivdual results for Match 4 click here.

Aug 28th Battle of Sedgemoor 10K . Results available click here. First Taunton competitor home was Luke Scott in 5th SM with an impressive time of 32:40; followed by Nick Chapman 42:30 (97th), and Annabelle Lillycrop (V35) in 54:17 knocking further important seconds of her seaons best. David Cooke of Taunton Athletic Club, as wheelchair entrant,completed the race in 38:03 which would have equated to position 46 ! Well done all ..... and could luck to all competing at the Taunton 10K (25th Sept) and Bristol HMarathon this Sunday ( 11 Sep.).

July 3rd - SWAL Match 3 :. Many congrats on a number of excellent individual performances (full Results available here - now include Track events) including wins in their respective age-groups - in Javelin :Robin Danahar & Charlie Granville & Josie Loxton, Shot Put: Robin Danaher & George Giles; 100m: Rosie Coles, George Giles; 200m: Abigail Barton & Elliot Scott; 1500m: Like Scott; HJ; Evie Grogan; LJ: Luke Reynolds However - with only quite few of our athletes attending TAC' s position in the league on the day was one of our lowest for a long time. A fuller team across all age groups will be needed at the last match on 4th September to assure our place in Division 1 of the SW Athletics League next year.

July 1/2 : Well done to all our Junior, Inter and Senior Schools age competitors who reached the entry standards and were selected to represent Somerset at the National English Schools Athletics Champs at Gateshead, where TAC members made up almost 1/2 of the 25 strong Somerset team. (Junior girls Javelin 34.02m) (No its not a typo - both achieved identical national standard peformances to the nearest centimeter in different events !)

Somerset & Dorset Combined Events Champs 7/8 May - Results now at Somerset Schools Site. Many congrats to TAC members Harry Hall and BenThompson - respresenting their school West Somerset Community College) on becoming Somerset Champions in Inter boys and Senior Boys respectively. SWAL – Match 1 : Sunday 17th April. Results for this first Match of the season are now available here . Taunton AC - with a much smaller team than normal - managed to just cling on to third place with a few points ahead of Exeter. Well done and thanks to all those who competed and helped on the day. ALL active members Please ensure to contact your coach or age-group team managers well in advance of the next match on 29th May to let them know you are available to compete, to ensure we have a fuller team available next time.

HALF MARATHON
Well done to all Taunton AC seniors who ran the Taunton Half Marathon on Sunday. In form Luke Scott finished 2nd with a new PB of nearly 2 minutes to complete the 13.1 mile course in 71:04. Lienne Penny made an impressive debut at the distance and Hannah Taunton sliced a few minutes off her time from the previous year.

SUPER 8 S
Well done to the Super 8 team of Emily Adams, Rhiannon Arthurs, Amy Newman, Alexandra Smalley, Ben Holland, Dan Wilde, Edward Falkingham and Sam Chinn who finished 3rd of nine competing teams in an inter club competition at Millfield last Thursday. For many of these athletes it was there first experience of an outdoor competition and the acquitted themselves extremely well.

Cross-Country News
Congratulations to the 12 Taunton AC athletes who represented the Somerset Schools teams at the National Cross Country Championships in Nottingham in March 2011 . There were some outstanding team and individual performances. The Intermediate Boys (school years 10 & 11) finished 5th county of the 40 + competing county teams and the six scoring athletes included four from Taunton AC. Rowan Preece led the team home in a magnificent 14th place from the 340 + runners. Isaac Taschimowitz was the second of the Somerset runner is an excellent 67th. Still in his first season with the club Max Patch finished an impressive 93rd place, whilst Joe Walton completed the team in 111th. There were also top 20 finishing positions for siblings Holly (Junior) and Blair Brown (Senior) in 14th and 18th place.

Taking place on the same weekend in sunny, southern Spain , 21 year old TAC member, Naomi Taschimowitz who has been a member of the club since she was 14 made her debut for Great Britain running in the World Cross-Country Championships. She finished an admirable 46th in the top half of the field in this her first major championship. Naomi was fourth of the six GB women making up the final place in the scoring who came 5th. The GB team finished behind Kenya , Ethiopia , USA & Bahrain (or the Kenya B team). They beat teams from Spain , Portugal , France , Japan , Russia , Uganda , etc..
